Court Lodge Reviews

Teresa
Lovely property. Beautifully designed. Plenty of room for 4people 2 dogs. Everything you need is supplied. Good off road parking and a dog safe garden. Very comfortable super king beds and good pillows. Modern bathrooms. Very warm house. Appreciated individual thermostats in all rooms. So we all felt comfortable. Oven could have been cleaner but only that one hiccup. Quite difficult to work appliances but we managed. Would most definitely stay again. Good pubs locally with excellent food.
Our second visit to this property, just as nice as the first all though remote location the peace and quiet is great, also some nice walks locally, the welcome pack was much appreciated the property is equipped with everything you would need ,the hot tub is the icing on the cake. Looking forward to another visit in the future.
Fabulous getaway cottage with lovely gardens. Immaculately clean, warm and inviting. A special place.

Court Lodge is a fantastic property. The setting is beautiful and very peaceful. Surrounded by countryside teeming with wildlife. There is everything you could want at the lodge and it has been tastefully furnished and decorated. All the appliances and fittings are very high quality and well maintained. The welcome hamper was a really nice touch and much appreciated. Sitting in the hot tub under a starlit sky was absolute heaven. I would highly recommend the property and look forward to returning in the future

The accommodation was first class. A tastefully furnished and decorated lodge was very comfortable. The location is lovely, with spectacular views across the countryside. Beds were comfortable and bathrooms immaculate. Overall it was amongst the best accommodation we have ever stayed in.
We had a wonderful stay in Court Lodge. The house is beautifully decorated and everything is of the highest standard. The surrounding countryside is extremely peaceful and that together with the blackout curtains guaranteed a good nights sleep. The garden was big enough for our two labs to have a run around in. Would highly recommended this property.
Perfect property We loved this property both inside and out. Inside was clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. The kitchen had everything we needed and the showers and bath were amazing. Outside was very private, peaceful and had amazing views across the fields. We would definitely recommend it to others and we can't wait to return for another visit.

This was my 10th booking with Helpful Holidays and was a wonderful property. Spotless and with a glorious garden. Nothing had been spared to design a great holiday. Everything provided and installed was of the very highest quality. Three great TVs! It maybe worth mentioning that the lodge is some distance from anywhere. It didnt bother me since I was happy to sit in the garden and admire the views. These days I think it would be useful to give details of any supermarkets making home deliveries though. Highly recommended for a peaceful and luxurious country break.
Beautiful Lodge in quiet surroundings. Everything you need for a peaceful holiday. Many thanks David.
Angela
We stayed at Court Lodge for 7 nights in May 2025. This was another of our holidays with our anxious nervous rescue dog. She can be highly reactive to many situations, so we booked Court Lodge as it was quite secluded and out of the way and it catered for dogs! What a lovely place, and a great base from which to explore South Somerset and North Devon. Its set in a very large, secluded garden with views over open countryside. The garden was fenced but wasnt 100 secure so we couldnt really let our dog off her lead, but she was happy just wandering around. With secure parking for several cars the only real downside for us was the location. We have to find places that are secluded and quite quiet, but the downside is that sometimes this means they can be awkward to access and for us Court Lodge fell into that category as it was situated down some very narrow occasionally single track roads. The property itself is great. The original Lodge has been sympathetically extended to a very high standard with every aspect so carefully thought out and beautifully put together. It has everything that the guests could need. Decorated and furnished in a modern & contemporary style it was very clean and tidy and, as part of the open plan design, had a spacious and wellequipped kitchen. The 2 bedrooms both with super king beds and one with an ensuite shower and the separate bathroom were of a good size, very modern and well fitted out and although there was ample storage for clothes, shoes etc. we found that there was limited hanging space. The Welcome Pack was a lovely touch. Thanks. David, our host, was very helpful and easy to contact although occasionally our messages werent read for a while. We were allowed to relax in our own space, but he was contactable when we had any questions or needed any help with anything. The views from the hot tub were great but if there was one VERY minor niggle, it was that on our second evening, we went to use the hot tub but couldnt as it hadnt heated up properly and so was unusable. David popped round the next morning to sort this problem. He apologised for the inconvenience, but it would have been nice to have been offered a small gesture as compensation. From a personal perspective we found that the internet was occasionally very slow, we would have liked to have seen an electric fan provided and it would have been helpful if the listing had mentioned that a hairdryer was supplied. In summary however..one of the nicest properties weve stayed in. No significant problems or issues, great attention to detail, clean and tidy and very well equipped and a very helpful host. Thanks David If you want a base to stay in when youre visiting this part of Somerset and dont mind the trips down the narrow lanes! then we would recommend Court Lodge Absolutely lovely.
Over the past five years we have rented dozens of holiday properties in the UK, mainly in the South West. Court Lodge was up with the best, if not the best. The owner came to welcome us, and everything was in perfect order. The welcome pack of groceries was much appreciated, as was the well stocked bookshelf. In a lovely setting. Very quiet and peaceful. Would definitely consider visiting again.
We spent a wonderful week here, everything was perfect, extremely clean, and very comfortable. The garden and it beautiful views were a highlight. Our two dogs loved it. We loved that all the fixtures and fittings in the property were premium. Stunning kitchen and bathrooms. Communication and checkin all seamless. Fantastic location for relaxing. We visited both coasts, Woolacombe and Sidmouth, both great, forgot how beautiful Woolacombe is. Highly recommend.
Tracey
We had a wonderful stay at Court Lodge! The property has been beautifully refurbished and the view from the patio is exceptional. We had a really relaxing break and everything seemed to have been thought of, plenty of towels, a utility area, well stocked kitchen etc. Also, so peaceful, the best nights sleep, so good weve booked again already. Many thanks to David and his team.
A perfect, peaceful getaway! Court Lodge was everything wed hoped for. Its been beautifully finished to a high standard with the hot tub overlooking serene fields. The owners have thoughtfully provided two helpful guides with great info on local walks, amenities, and the lodge itself. We came for relaxation, and we certainly found it. Many thanks for having us.
Steven
An amazing place set in beautiful countryside. This Lodge is finished to the highest level of detail, both the building and grounds are absolutely delightful . The assistance from the owner was second to none and made our stay even more special. Thank you.
Gillian
The cottage had every comfort and facility that we had hoped for and more. All fixtures and fittings were of a high standard, the kitchen equipment was exceptional and catered for all cooking requirements. The views from the hot tub were spectacular and the whole garden very private. The cottage was very cosy and warm despite us being there during the 2 days of Storm Bert. We would highly recommend it particularly for couples.
We enjoyed staying at the Court Lodge very much. The welcome pack from David is a nice touch. The lodge is extremely spacious. We had great sleeps in the comfy beds and blackout curtain in the rooms. We also enjoyed the hot tub and the fireplace a fantastic way to spend your November evening.
Allison
As there is a hot tub robes would be a good idea. Sofa needs looking at as it dips one end. A few bits needed in the kitchen maybe some Cooking oil and some kitchen roll. Other than these minor things the cottage is lovely just what we needed to recharge our batteries.
My only concern about this holiday it wasnt long enough, the property was first class the owners have thought of everything, welcome pack, toiletries,&lots of little extras to make our stay Perfect. We would love to revisit again in the future Hopefully for two weeks to this unspoiled part of the country.
Robert
Excellent property in the middle of a quiet village, beautiful surroundings with no light pollution, we were able to sit out and see the stars at night. Very much appreciated the welcome goodies, nothing better than a coffee when you arrive. All four of us would want to come again we had such a lovely time. The sofa is the only thing that wasnt as comfortable as the rest of the property, not the best for 4 people, but having said that we couldnt fault the cottage.
A perfect escape to the country with everything we could wish for available for our use. A very thoughtful and much appreciated welcome pack was awaiting our arrival. We had a very comfortable relaxing stay in Court Lodge and thoroughly enjoyed several evenings in the hot tub. The abundance of wildlife and absence of noise pollution makes this a perfect place to enjoy nature. We would thoroughly recommend a stay in this delightful cottage.
Wow! Fantastic accommodation, beautiful quiet location, and fabulous weather, we had the most brilliant week staying here. The Lodge has everything you could possibly need, and all top quality. Even better than the photographs, and it felt like home straight away. A much appreciated welcome pack on arrival thank you. The guest folders were really easy to refer to. We did quite a few of the walks the owners had suggested, and walked to the Martlet Inn dog friendly for a lovely hearty lunch. The Lodge is a great base to explore the area, we went to Bossington and walked to Porlock for lunch at the Ship Inn. LynmouthLynton, Wells, Glastonbury Tor, Dunster Castle and village, Wellington Monument and Dunkery Beacon all definitely worth visiting, as well as so many other places to walk on the moors and Quantock Hills. Worth noting that the garden is a great size for dogs to run around in, although it isnt totally dog proof, but the weather was so good that we were out and about most of the time, so didnt spend a huge amount of time at the Lodge until the evenings. We loved watching the bats at dusk, and had a couple of stunning sunsets, a blood moon, and some clear starry skies perfect viewing from the hot tub if you turn the outside lights off. We wouldnt hesitate to recommend staying at the Lodge, and we would definitely book again if returning to the area. One of the best holiday cottages weve stayed in.
Claire
Fantastic accommodation in a lovely rural peaceful location with lots of wildlife & amazing star gazing on clear nights. Very well presented and appointed accommodation with everything you could need along with a lovely welcome pack and comprehensive guides to equipment. The garden was large and dog friendly, not dog proof. Owner was quick to respond. It's the best accommodation we've stayed in with Sykes.
Angela
Hi, we had a lovely time. So much so we have just booked a week again for next August. The lodge is delightful and the location is lovely. Angela
Weve just returned from a long weekend at Court Lodge and couldnt speak more highly of it. It was the perfect escape in a charming, remote town. The large garden was ideal for our Labrador to run around and explore, with beautiful views of the neighboring fields and grazing cows. The lodge itself was modern, stylish, and spotlessly clean, with a wellequipped kitchen that had everything we needed. The hot tub was a delightful treat after long walks exploring the countryside. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be returning!
Leslie
Beautiful spacious lodge, tastefully appointed. A bit out in the sticks but worth it for tranquil setting amongst rolling hills. Villages with food stores and pubs 1520 minutes away. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would certainly recommend.
We had an amazing time at court lodge. Beautiful area and very peaceful. Lodge is amazing just what you need for a relaxing holiday.
We have just returned from a Friday to Friday booking in Court Lodge. The house is situated in a quiet and tranquil lane a little outside Wiveliscombe which has a small amount of amenities. The house is extremely well planned with plenty of ProCook kitchenware the owners have thought of absolutely everything and more! that you may need. The hot tub is excellent and a lovely way to watch the bats flitting around at dusk. There were plenty of good quality towels and lovely linen supplied and when we arrived the house was absolutely spotless. We had taken our dog with us who is a roving Spaniel the garden and driveway is secure enough that she wasn't able to escape although I'm sure she could've done if she'd put her mind to it!. It isn't listed but there is also a BBQ to use which would've been lovely if the weather had been better. If you're looking for a very tranquil week with no disruptions in a 'high end hotel quality' cottage then I can't recommend this enough.
What an amazing property, comfort is to the highest of standards. The grounds it sits in are just stunning, so peaceful and relaxing, we would highly recommend a stay here. Some of the lovely places we visited include, Dunster Castle and Gardens, also Minehead Beach and Brean Beach, both allow dogs during the summer season. Thanks again for our wonderful break away, we will definitely be back soon for another spell to relax and unwind.
Steven
A wonderful cottage. Beautifully maintained with gorgeous views. Everything catered for inside. The only problem we came across is we do not think the extractor fan in the main bathroom worked.
Philip
Fantastic stay at Court Lodge. The property has been furnished to a very high standard and specification. If you are looking for luxury, comfort and seclusion, this is well worth considering. Hot tub was used every day, even on the cooler evenings, whilst listening to the wildlife and watching the stars. Thank you David for creating a superb cottage, we hope to return in the future.
Michael
Outstanding. Returned from an amazing holiday at Court Lodge, excellent facilities, furnishings and fixtures. We are already missing the views and the quiet surroundings so much so we have booked to return.
Louise
Beautiful cottage in a lovely area. No complaints, perfect holiday.
Michael
An excellent property. Modernised to a very high standard with excellent appliances. Location offers wonderful views over the Somerset countryside. Extremely peaceful. Nice hot tub and good off road parking. Location offers good access to several NT properties including Knightshayes and Killerton. Known to Tesco which facilities deliveries. Only 4 star rating because of a number of cleaning issues which I suspect was unusual and will be dealt with by the owner.
Court lodge was a delight to stay in. The owner went out of his way before we arrived to help make our stay over Christmas perfect and gave us a warm welcome. The guest manual is detailed and very helpful. The views are simply stunning, the closeness to nature inspiring and the inside of the lodge is very comfortable with super bathrooms, and quality furnishings, the kitchen exceptionally well equipped. Watching the migrating birds at sunset from the hot tub, even in December, was memorable. The position is rural but didnt feel isolated and the fairly short drive to the nearest shops a small price to pay for the tranquility of the lodges surroundings. A wonderful world away from the stresses of daily life. Thoroughly recommend.
Chong Yew
Lovely accommodation, clean and comfortable with beautiful countryside. Nothing to fault. We had a wonderfully relaxed time. Many thanks
Claire
The property was exactly as listed with outstanding facilities. The surroundings are stunning with a perfect garden for the dog who loved her freedom to explore. The owners have clearly gone out of their way to make sure the stay is luxurious with everything you could possibly need, we were very sad to leave and would highly recommend this place.
Charles
This property is finished to a very high standard with all of the mod cons you could want. The location was perfect for us being very peaceful and private and while you are not that far from attractions and amenities it makes you feel that you are. If you are looking for a great place to escape to then I would fully recommend this place for your consideration.
Wonderful property and the perfect base for exploring SomersetDevon.
A very high end property with everything you could ask for. All very efficient with communication etc... A lovely welcome basket and peace and quiet! Makes for a great retreat. Would highly recommend.
