The Outlook Reviews

Catherine
Absolutely loved this property. We stayed over new year 2526 and was wonderful to watch the sunset on new years eve from the hot tub. The views across the countryside are absolutely amazing and we would love to go back during spring or summer. Property was very clean and tidy bedrooms are all big and plenty of storage space. Bathrooms also great and spacious. Kitchen has everything you would need. Hot tub was Fab even in winter it was lovely and is a fantastic treat. The only small niggles were that in agreement with another review, we followed directions given in email sent few days prior to arrival and they weren't great for once the Sat Nav was more accurate. Also we were sent key box details which did not exist and eventually found the keys were in the door. Could not get patio door to lock properly during our stay living by a city we are used to having to lock up very securely Also we could not get normal channels on the TV None of these small issues were a major problem and I would recommend this property.
The directions for the final approach the property were not really helpful, especially in the dark. Had to ask locals in order to find it. On arrival, no key safe to be found despite a code being provided. The house itself is wonderfully located and certainly comfortable but three things let it down 1. Several items in the kitchen had not been properly washed, perhaps the fault of previous visitors 2. The hot tub is located adjacent to the boiler flue when the boiler operates eg for central heating the fumes are highly unpleasant for those in the hot tub 3. There are indeed two bathrooms but the shower in the en suite turns into a dribble if the other shower is in use.
The accommodation is spacious and comfortable. The views are fabulous and the location excellent for walks to surrounding villages and The Quantocks. The host was very helpful when called upon. The internet was working without problems.
Loved our stay at The outlook. Andy was welcoming and on the end of the line if we needed him. The house was comfortable, clean and well equipped. The location was peaceful with amazing views with loads of places to visit nearby.
Had a fabulous stay at the outlook during some amazing August weather , the properly itself was very clean, beds comfy , layout worked well for me and my wife and our 3 kids. Andy the host was on hand but not in the way in the slightest. The view over the Quantocks was spectacular, with the sun set ahead of us every night we were there. The drive into the property from the A road takes about 5 minutes down a few country lanes so have your witts about you, but no issues for huge potholes or anything that will total your car. Overall location is good, Williton and Watchet are for favourites to the north in ten minutes or so , Taunton about 25 minutes south . So you can get about quite easily. Nearest shop would be Williton with a large Spar and Co op and other bakeries etc. you can walk 300 ft to an amazing cafe next door however as well as the Stogcumber station about half a mile. Just the one niggle and this depends on whether you after total seclusion or not as that's a balancing act at the best of time between being in the middle of nowhere 25 minutes drive to a decent road or just off the beaten track like here. The property is 30 foot from the main house and 50 foot from the stables so for the horse lovers out there you get to see the 3 horses often, that also means that you will have people passing right outside your bedroom and lounge window and the open garden from 7 am till 10pm , 7 days a week , not many but some days we had a dozen back and forth cars to the stables or turning around outside the property. Also thick gravel outside which is louder the earlier or later it gets
Candace
Wonderfull views across open countryside! This is a large enough property tor an extended family to enjoy a gettogether. we especially enjoyed seeing the horses everyday.
Elizabeth
We were 3 generations staying for a family wedding so sadly no time to enjoy the surrounding area. We had all we needed and greatly appreciated a ground floor room with ensuite for our elderly members. Very clean and comfortable throughout with lovely views.
The property itself is stunning however a few things let the stay down. The bedroom downstairs is beautiful with the en suite however as the curtains are set back from the window slightly it lets a lot of light in so at night its still very light and first thing in the morning you find yourself waking up as soon as the light comes through which could have been an early as 5am. So a roller blind or black out curtains would be useful. We also found there are instructions on how to clean the BBQ however it was anything but clean, the handle was broken on the bbq and the grills inside looked like they hadnt been cleaned in months. There was thick black dirt and rust on the bbq so before we could even attempt to use it we had to give it a real good clean. Then when attempting to use the bbq we realised it wasnt working anyway. The same night the bbq wasnt working the hot tub wasnt working either. We messaged the owner who to his credit attended the property within 510 minutes and did solve the hot tub for the night and returned the following day to change the plug. We as a family felt the owners attitude was what let the experience down, yes he attended promptly however there was no apology for the issue, and when we mentioned the bbq again there was no apology and no offer to fix or attempt to fix the problem just stating well I dont have any matches we arent picky so an apology would have been enough for us but it wasnt forthcoming. Overall the property is nice and well equipped for a week stay however other issues overshadowed out stay.
Lovely stay at the Outlook supported by Andy. Facilities and location perfect for what we wanted and expected. Highly recommend!
Claire
Lovely cottage is a perfect location.
Just come back from a lovely family Christmas break. The property was spacious for 6 of us, all the bedrooms were a great size, the kitchen however was tiny, so trying to cook Christmas dinner for 6 was a challenge, the ensuite in the downstairs bedroom was spacious and so was the other one. The hot tub was nice and relaxing and on a clear night was nice to see the stars. The views were lovely and walks on the Quantocks were beautiful, the area was nice and peaceful. Had an issue with the WiFi as it kept buffering, but we knew about this, so wasn't a problem from other reviews but didn't we didn't have any Internet one day, but Andy was onsite to sort it out for us. Would recommend.
Anthony
Spotless house, very well equipped and a great place to spend time with family. Would highly recommend
We had a fantastic time at the outlook it clean and comfortable with all the ... We had a fantastic time at the outlook it clean and comfortable with all the amenities you need for a base to explore summerset secure garden was ideal for keeping our dog safe and the hot tub was a luxurious bonus The only minus points we felt that the WiFi needs attention and the outlook could do with updating in the dcor But apart from them small points we had a great break away and relaxed holiday
Our third stay at the Outlook and we had another wonderful holiday. The accommodation is spotlessly clean and spacious. The Outlook is situated down a very quiet country lane with stunning views across to Exmoor and is perfect for a relaxing break, but there are plenty of places to visit just a short drive away. Sitting in the hot tub at the end of the day watching the sunset is heavenly. We will definitely be back again!
Christina
Lovely property, great location.
Joanne
Lovely property and location only down was the shower in the downstairs bedroom worst shower as impossible to regulate the temperature of the water.
Great accommodation clean, comfortable and well equipped with wonderful far reaching views, especially from the hot tub. Set in a beautiful part of the world with lovely walks on your doorstep in lush countryside, several good pubs close by and the coast within easy reach. Highly recommended.
Timothy
Andy was on hand if you needed him and informed us of the area. Nothing was to much trouble. Excellent stay
Lovely area , few things wet room shower low on water pressure compared to other bathroom shower . Wifi ,when watching filmTV keeps dropping out
Everything was lovely. Only issue was with the wifi,it lept disconnecting and didn't work most of the time, but other than that, the house was perfect. Thank you Andy for the hospitality
Louise
We have just spent a lovely half term week at the Outlook. The location was very peaceful and idyllic with lots of options for walking. The accommodation itself is so spacious with lovely views and the owners have thought of and provided everything you need. We really enjoyed the hot tub private with great views over the fields. Would definitely recommend
Lovely accommodation, very quiet and comfortable. Could do with Black out curtains upstairs with the Xmas lights next do on all night ,like a disco in the bedroom gave us a few sleepless nights
The internet at this cottage was not acceptable. The system crashed every 1020 minutes and if I had work to do online would have been hopeless. The hot tub and robes were wonderful. The rooms were spacious . Only thing for long stay and large family would be a washer and dryer.
Excellent location and very quiet. Very friendly and helpful. A very relaxing and enjoyable break.
The Outlook was perfect! We came for my husbands 50th and it was perfect. The place was spotless clean, hot tub hot and the fact towels and bath robes were included was amazing. Also the tea and coffee was a god send as I forgot ours. The bedrooms were an amazing size too. Would definitely come back again. The views were amazing and my grandson loved watching the horses.
Adrian
Excellent break at The Outlook, warm and friendly onsite host. Clean, well organised and homely. Hot tub maintained daily and host Andy really good at recommending good places to eat, drink and explore. Thank you for a simple straight forward way to renting a holiday cottage, service has been excellent from start to end.
It was a lovely stay away and break that my family and I needed. The peace and quiet was fantastic and the views stunning! We all deeply enjoyed the hot tub and home cooked meals. While some may have wanted better Internet connection, we found it fun to spend quality time together playing games and watching films as a family to unwind in the evening. Plenty of things to do in the area and would recommend the Zootropica for visitors.
Shaunna
I came for my hen do with 4 others and we had the best time! Everything is clear and well explained, the beds are comfortable and the hot tub was perfect on arrival! And throughout! Beautiful views, and a fab little tea roomcafe literally 3 min walk away, and it's lovely! Could not recommend enough, thank you for a fab stay, I'd love to come back sometime!
Denise
This is our second stay at the Outlook and we were just as impressed as the first. The Outlook is well equipped and the Hot Tub is a welcome extra. It is well placed, especially for walks Quantock Hills & Exmoor National Park and WSR to Minehead we had a great time thank you.
Charley
We had the most amazing time for my sisters Hen Weekend! The house is the most beautiful secluded location with stunning views! The facilities at the property were excellent, I would absolutely recommend!
Matthew
The house was great for our two families, the location was beautiful and the views really made it! We are already looking at when we can come again
Russell
The property was very clean and tidy with everything that we needed. The accommodation was of a very high quality and well maintained, and the location was excellent, very quiet and relaxing
Rebecca
Lovely and comfortable property with very goodsized bedrooms we had 2 travel cots in one of them and still felt there was plenty of room. The stair gate at the bottom of the stairs was also very handy given that we had 2 toddlers in the party. Kitchen was wellequipped although on the small side. The hot tub was an excellent bonus feature of the stay. The listing states that there is a washing machine but there isn't one might have come in useful for several days away with 2 toddlers and a newborn. Did get told off by the owner when our parents dropped by to see their children and grandchildren and share a meal with us, which somewhat negatively impacted the stay.
Andrew
We stayed in the Outlook for a long weekend with some friends . It was well equipped with every thing we needed and plenty of room for the six of us. Great location and really close to Stogumber Station for a day out on the west Somerset railway. We had a great time.
We had a very peaceful comfortable stay with everything we needed. A washing machine would have been a bonus but we appreciate there was no space for one.and possibly a gate around the side of the property to keep our dog safe while we were in the hot tub which was wonderful We would definitely stay at the Outlook with its beautiful views again and would recommend it to others.
Fantastic place to stay we would gladly stay there again. The house was very comfortable with excellent facilities and supplied household materials were exceptional.
Rachel
.all as decried very comfortable accommodation clean and tidy. Great hot tub . A teapot would of been grate for 7 adults
Michael
Nice property with 3 large bedrooms, very quiet and peaceful location with lovely views. Good sized fenced garden area with hot tub, although dog could get out around back of property, fitting a small gate would solve that Overall it is great for a relaxing holiday. Not many walks directly from property re walking dog etc, but lots scenic areas only a short drive away. Pubs in Bicknoller and Crowcombe both do food and have nice gardens for sitting in the sun. Mason Arms at Williton does a lovely Sunday lunch.
